Doctors

  • Mark W. Hanlon , VMD


    Mark W. Hanlon, VMD graduated from Eastern University in 1982 with an undergraduate degree in Chemistry.  After working in the precious metals industry for seven years, he decided to pursue his life long dream of becoming a veterinarian.  In 1993, he graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine, receiving several awards for excellence.  After working for ten years in Harleysville and Allentown, Dr. Hanlon purchased Gilbertsville Veterinary Hospital in 2003. 

    His other interests outside of work include competing in triathlons and adventure races, reading and spending time with his family.  Dr. Hanlon has been married 21 years to his wife, Diane, and is the proud father of three children.  They have three orange tiger cats (the "Boys"), Benjamin, 16, and Joshua, 3, and Jeremiah, 1, and the lastest addition to the family an Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog puppy named Mary Grace.


  • John A. Coniglario , DVM


    John A. Coniglario, DVM graduated in 1985 from Cook College of Rutgers University. After working for several years, Dr. Coniglario chose to pursue a veterinary degree. In 1993, he graduated from the University of Florida and began in private practice. Dr. ā€œCā€ has more than 16 years of experience in veterinary medicine with a special interest in exotics medicine.

    Dr. ā€œCā€ has his own collection of animals at home including 1 dog, 3 cats, 2 tortoises, 3 snakes, and 2 guinea pigs. He has been married to his wife, Susan, for 9 years and is the proud father of one son.


  • Jill O. Kulig , VMD


    Dr. Kulig was born in Dayton, Ohio and moved to Pennsylvania with her family when she was 10.  She attended Penn State University and graduated from the College of Agriculture with an Environmental Science Degree.  After four years working as a Scientific Consultant she decided on a career change.  In 1995, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. 

    After graduation, Dr. Kulig worked as a small animal practitioner in Harleysville and Exeter.  She joined the doctors at Gilbertsville in the summer of 2008.  She practices both small animal and special species medicine and is particularly interested in Oncology, Dentistry and Internal Medicine.  Observing and taking an active role in nuturing the human-animal bond, is what makes her job so great.  Helping pets stay healthy and happy are her goals.

    Dr. Kulig lives in Green Lane with her husband and three children, three cats and two dogs.  During her "free" time she enjoys supporting her kids with their musical and athletic endeavors as well as running, hiking, camping and gardening.


  • Julie M. Thorndyke , DVM


    Julie M. Thorndyke, DVM, graduated from Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991.  She was awarded the Gentle Doctor Award for excellence in patient care.  Dr. Thorndyke completed an internship in advanced training in small animal medicine and surgery at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, MA.  Prior to moving to Pennsylvania in 1999, Dr. Thorndyke worked in private practice in Chicago, IL and Scottsdale, AZ. 

    Dr. Thorndyke and her husband, Doug, have two children.  Their adopted pets include a dog "Tootsie", two cats and a guinea.  When not at the veterinary hospital, Dr. Thorndyke can often be found volunteering at her children's schools, sewing, traveling, entertaining, or on the squash or tennis court. 


  • Cynthia M. Worrall , DVM


    Cynthia M. Worrall, DVM graduated from The University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997.  She has practiced small animal veterinary medicine full time for more than ten years and has excellent soft tissue surgery skills.  She joined our staff last year on a part time basis so she can spend more time with her children and is a wonderful addition. 

    Dr. Worrall and her husband have two small children and two four-footed "kids", a beagle mix and a sheltie mix.  When away from work, Dr. Worrall enjoys spending time with her family, reading and cooking.
